Remember the Classics: DAY6 Covers, Part 1

After the release of Korean-Rock band DAY6’s latest album, Remember Us: Youth Part 2, it was clear that the members (Sungjin, Jae, Wonpil, Young K [a.k.a. Brian], and Dowoon) were greatly influenced by music artists from the past. It’s especially evident in the song and music video for “Days Gone By,” which experimented with sounds of the genre, including synth-pop, a sound that many eighties fans are familiar with.

The music video plays heavily with colours, lighting, style and design that is reminiscent of the 1980s aesthetic. It’s clear that the boys are just as nostalgic as we are, showcasing their love for retro music through covers of classic songs. Here are just a few to check out!

“How Deep Is Your Love” by the Bee Gees

For fans who grew up listening to classic pop, such as artists as the Bee Gees who contributed to the disco era of the seventies with hits like “Stayin’ Alive”, this one is sure to be a favourite!

“Hey Jude” by The Beatles

Take a sad song and make it better with...DAY6. Young K covered this classic hit by The Beatles with Dowoon! Yes, Dowoon can sing.

“She’s Gone” by Steelheart

A blast from the not-so distant past! The guys had fun with some good ‘ol ‘90s rock ‘n roll as they covered Steelheart on V-Live, despite the sad song!

“High and Dry” by Radiohead

As fans of DAY6, I assume you have a love for both K-Pop and Rock. For you rockers, they covered some Radiohead!

“Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You” by Frankie Valli and the 4 Seasons

Before there was Jae of DAY6, or even JaeSix, there was yellowpostitman, the channel in which a young Jae Park posted covers of himself singing songs. In this case, he sang a cover of Lauryn Hill’s cover of “Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You,” originally made famous by Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.
